Emergency Assistance for Non-Public Schools 2.0 (EANS II)

EANS funds are designed to support non-public schools in addressing pandemic-related academic & behavioral challenges

On December 27, 2020, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, which included $2.75 billion in funding for the exclusive use of non-public schools. This funding for non-public schools is contained within (and called) the Emergency Assistance for Non-Public Schools (EANS) program. The EANS program’s purpose is to provide services and assistance to non-public schools to address educational disruptions caused by COVID-19.

On March 11, 2021, an additional $2.75 billion was designated for the EANS program through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP).

Thus, a total $5.5 billion has been made available to private schools through the first and second rounds of EANS program funding, which have become referred to as, respectively, “EANS I” and “EANS II.”

LEARNING LOSS (Teacher Support)
  • Identifying and responding to student academic needs through coaching

    ADAC’s personnel will visit your school twice in the fall, twice in the winter, and twice in the spring. Each of these visits will be full-day. During these visits, ADAC will review with you and your faculty student assessment data from DRAs, Exact Path, the spring Iowa Assessments, and other assessment tools utilized by your school. The knowledge gained from this assessment review will permit a collaborative reassessment of classroom instruction. ADAC’s personnel will assist school leaders and faculty with developing effective instructional approaches based on these assessment reviews.

  • Combining multiple grade-level curricula to meet student learning needs through coaching

    ADAC’s personnel will visit your school once per month. Each of these visits will be full-day. During these visits, ADAC will collaboratively work with your faculty to remap curricula and differentiate lesson plans for the purpose of closing student learning gaps.

  • Providing tools to efficiently track student progress

    ADAC will provide to your faculty a 2-hour webinar. The purpose of this webinar will be to help faculty to develop individual student portfolios. These student portfolios will be utilized to monitor students’ academic progress. In addition, ADAC’s personnel will provide on a monthly basis virtual consultation with your school’s faculty. The purpose of these monthly consultations is to assess, on a continuous basis, student achievement and provide, in a collaborative manner, advice on instructional practices. Each of these monthly consultations will be 4-hours in length.

  • Providing consultative assistance to school leaders and teachers regarding social and emotional challenges

    ADAC will provide for 20 hours per month a qualified mental health professional to triage student behavioral concerns and offer to you and your faculty mitigatory consultative support to address these matters.

PERSONALIZED LEARNING
  • Identifying and responding to student academic needs through coaching

    ADAC’s personnel will visit your school twice per month. Each of these visits will be full-day. Utilizing student data, ADAC will assist teachers with employing targeted instructional methods to meet student needs. Some of these methods will include small group direct instruction, project-based learning, the use of technology, and self-directed learning.

SPECIAL EDUCATION
  • Increasing teachers’ empathy toward students with learning differences and instilling in them a deeper desire to teach these students

    ADAC will provide to your faculty a 2-hour training. The purpose of this training is stated above.

    • Familiarizing teachers with various student learning disabilities through group professional development
    • Assisting classroom teachers with recognizing certain behaviors that require additional student support(s) through coaching
    • Assisting school leaders and classroom teachers with IDEA’s “child-find” process through consultative support

    ADAC’s personnel will visit your school twice per month. Each of these visits will be full-day. The purpose of these visits will be two-fold. The first purpose is to support classroom teachers with addressing any extant student academic and/or behavioral challenges. The second purpose is to assist teachers and school leaders with identifying students for referral to IDEA’s child-find process.

  • Developing a Student Support Team to implement MTSS

    ADAC personnel will meet with you to identify members of the student support team. ADAC personnel will facilitate the first student support team meeting. The purpose of this first meeting is to assist the student support team with developing systems and protocols. During subsequent visits, ADAC personnel will assist classroom teachers with implementing interventions for the purpose of addressing students’ academic, behavioral, and social/emotional difficulties. Occurring once-per-month, these subsequent visits will be full-day.

  • Fostering an inclusive school environment

    ADAC personnel will provide to your faculty an in-person, full-day professional development session. The foci of this PD will be (1) the child-find processes and procedures of IDEA, (2) how to interpret an IEP/ISP, and (3) learning differences and how they should be proactively identified.

    ADAC personnel will visit each of your classrooms so as to provide to each of your classroom teachers support with employing the instructional strategies about which they had learned at the professional development session in September. These full-day visits will occur monthly.
