Restorative Practices

What are restorative practices?

Restorative practices in the classroom help build stronger relationships, foster empathy, and create a positive learning environment. Instead of focusing only on punishment when problems arise, restorative practices emphasize:

  • Mending relationships between students, teachers, and peers
  • Encouraging accountability in a constructive way
  • Building community through open communication and trust
  • Repairing harm caused by negative behavior

Restorative practices shift the focus from punishment to growth, making schools safer, more inclusive, and more effective learning environments.
