Culturally Responsive Teaching

With precision, ADAC provides to you and your faculty the wherewithal to deliver to all an education that is culturally responsive.

We work with you and your teachers to:

  • Understand and appreciate culturally responsive practices
  • Devise culturally responsive curricula that, through differentiated instruction, closes achievement gaps
  • Foster inclusive classroom “environments” in which each student is both empowered to take personal responsibility for his or her own learning and feels valued and respected not despite his or her culture, but because of it

Forged by culture are the manners in and the purposes for which society consigns its young people to the rigors and the responsibilities of learning. And just as symphonic opuses consist of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings, cultures consist of many parts. Diverse and precious, these parts include the attitudes and the habits by which individual persons – fully alive within the particular culture that is their own – construe meaning, behold beauty, and learn.

The provision of student-centered instruction and the instillment of high standards are among the means by which teachers can establish culturally diverse classrooms.  Within such classrooms each student is empowered, as an individual, to embrace his or her own way of life, appreciate the ways of life of his or her fellows, and ultimately benefit – educationally, socially, and emotionally – from the lessons, which through education, culture bestows.

Federal title programs and IDEA may partially or fully fund for your teachers this culturally responsive teaching. With unlocking this funding, we can help you!
